Soak all lentils in water over night or for 4 to 5 hours.
Add water as required for the lentils around 6 cups and give them a boil. Add salt and red chilli powder in this too if u want to make it a little spicy otherwise no need to add chilli powder. After 5 minutes of boiling add oats to this as well and leave then to cook until they are all very soft and blended.
Keep this aside and clean your meat.
Put oil in a pressure cooker and fry the meat in it along with ginger garlic paste.
Add masala and saute for 2 more minutes.
Now pour almost 6 to 7 cups of water or as required in it and give it pressure of 45 minutes to one hour.
When u open the lid you will notice that the pieces are very soft and easily coming out of the bones and good amount of stock too.
Strain the chicken/beef stock.
Keep the meat pieces aside let them cool a little and then shred it.
In a deep wok add cooked lentils , shredded meat and stock and let them all together now on medium flame.
Use a wodden spoon to mix it after every 2 to 3 minutes till you get the right consistency and taste.
At the end when its done grind half of this haleem for a few seconds only but please do not over grind and put it back to remaining or you can use hand blender to just blend it a little bit. Just put it inside the wok and blend the haleem for a few seconds. The haleem should not be flat otherwise it will lose its taste so be careful at this point. It has to have some RESHA.
Now prepare the tarka.
Add sliced onions in 2 to 3 table spoons of oil and fry well utill they are crispy and light brown.
Pour on the haleeem.
Serve with lemon slices , coriander leaves fresh , ginger strips and green chillies chopped.
Also sprinkle chatmasala for a great flavor.
I have added red chilli powder coz i like to make it a little spicy.
You can omit the tarka part if you want.
Be careful when you blend the haleem donot over blend it or you ll end up with a flat , tasteless haleem
Make it once then store it in freezer in small containers and eat whenever you want for the next 15 days. Always freeze it without tarka.
Just take the frozen haleem out of the container cook on low heat for a while until it is hot again.
Make tarka and serve hot.
